These affordable home designs are based on being expandable for both low-income and first time homeowners.

 

The expandable concept starts with a “base plan” that is designed to accommodate future expansion as a family’s needs and financial abilities grow.

 

In this manner, the initial cost/mortgages will be as low as possible.

 

When additional living space is needed, the home is easily expandable.

 

For example, rather than using roof trusses, which do not allow future space/additions to be built, the roofs would be built to allow for additions to be built under the roof.

 

In addition to the exteriors being aesthetically pleasing, the key to these designs is that the initial “base plans” have properly proportioned room sizes (i.e. the living room for the 1052 s.f. base plan will not be too small when the home is expanded to 1,841 s.f.).
